"Look out!" Calcifer said, about to shove the girl out of the way. But he was then surprised as he suddenly saw the girl holding the arrow in her hand, only a few inches from her chest. It was then that she unsheathed her katana and dropped the the ground, moving carefully and staying hidden in the bushes as she crouched low to the ground. She then stopped her movements and went silent, waiting for the right moment to strike with her blade.

The Saggitarimon immediately drew another arrow, either unimpressed with Ami’s feat or too angry with the lot of them to notice as he took careful aim once again. When she dropped to the ground and dove for cover, he waited a few moments more while trotting casually through the trees, lowering his bow so that the drawn back shaft was aimed perpendicular to the ground, keeping a diligent gaze over his surroundings to snipe her full of holes at the first notice of movement. When nothing came, it only irritated him further into a rage.
“Fine, you going to hide from me all day, yeah?” he called out with a bellow, “Then I’ll make a pincushion out of that annoying Patamon!”
His arrow was drawn back on the string of his bow in an instant as he took aim for the white furred, flying pig type digimon. Just as he was about to release his finger tension from the fletching of the lethal projectile, he cried out in surprise and a little pain. The fireball quickly snuffed out after its impact with the Saggitarimon’s face, drawing the digimon’s attention to his attacker. Meramon stood a short distance away, one of his hands burning brighter than usual as he gathered more fire for a second attack.
“You’re all such bothersome pests!” shouted the centaur-like digimon as he took new aim for the fire-type, releasing the arrow intended for Patamon and quickly sending a salvo of three more right after it in rapid succession.
Meramon dived to the side, just managing to avoid getting caught by the last of the bombardment as he dived behind a tree. He couldn’t take cover like Ami and Patamon could, he wasn’t able to utilize the tree as effective protection by getting too close to it, or else everyone would have a forest fire to deal with on top of the problems at hand. He also couldn’t fight the Saggitarimon with all of his strength. The fireball he had tossed was of lower power then he was capable of but still the strongest he was willing to risk. He had to find a way to drag this into the open where he would be on level fighting grounds with this heartless beast of a digimon thug.
Before he could think more on what to do, the horseman digimon lined up a new shot with him and launched another barrage of three-pronged arrows his way. A Saggitarimon’s arrowheads were made of Chrome Digizoid, so he knew he didn’t want that steel biting into his flaming flesh or it might punch clear through. Quickly tearing out of his previous cover, he dove to hide among the trees and impair the centaur’s shots, if only for a short time before the dangerous Saggitarimon could line him up in a shot again.

As the digimon turned its attention on Meramon, Ami charged forwards with her katana, stepping onto a large rock and leaping off of it, she then grabbed onto the digimon, climbing onto its back. Once positioned correctly, she she drew her blade again and pushed it as hard as she could into its flesh to try and stab him.
Meanwhile, Calcifer flew up beside the digimon's head, attacking with Boom Bubble before landing on his head, putting his wings over the centaur's eyes.

As the Saggitarimon took perfect aim, lining up Meramon in his hawk-like sights, he was suddenly ambushed by the human girl and winged rodent digimon in a swift, combined surprise attack. Finding that someone was riding his back all of a sudden, he made to take action before he was abruptly splashed across the face with a bubble blast of concentrated air. Crying out with suprise and rage, but little pain, the centaur digimon bucked and rocked, suddenly blinded by furry bat-like ears covering his eyes.
If that wasn’t bad enough to irk him, he suddenly felt something cutting into his back. Fortunately, his digimon-type was a well-armored kind, even back there, and so his human assailer wasn’t able to get a clean cut, giving him enough time to act. Reaching around behind him, he knocked aside the pesky blade with one of the large flaming gauntlets encasing him arms. The biting irritant of steel no longer digging into his back, he brushed his arm back around with swinging strength, intent on knocking the mounted girl off of him.
At the same time, to deal with his Patamon problem, he dove towards a nearby tree at a full gallop. Not only did he have a sturdy helmet to protect him, but something just spoke of how he had to have a rather thick skull. He’d be fine and relatively unscathed by the impact, but the Patamon would likely fair much worse as it came ever closer to crashing against a soon to be splintering tree.

Ami quickly leaned back as far as she could, the arm just brushing by her as she desperately held on with her legs. Holding on to the sword, she tried thinking of another place to shove it into, before a small grin flickered on her face, as she thought of a very painful, and rather amusing, place to stick it. Still leaning back, she forcefully shoved it into the digimon's rear.
Meanwhile, Calcifer saw what was coming and quickly flew off of the digimon's head.

Saggitarimon cursed profanity as his lightning bolt helmet sliced into the bark of a nearby tree, but with a serious lack of snapping bones and crunching organs. The dangerous impact he had had planned for his winged Patamon problem didn’t work, as the rodent just took off in flight at the last moment. The collision did serve one purpose, however. As the digimon dove through the splintering debris of the once noble forest giant, the top half of its wood length flew over his head and swept just short of his back.
His unwanted rider would just now be preparing to make her unpleasant attack, targeting an area that was also partially armored, albeit not as much as the rest of him, and thus wouldn’t be completely effective anyways. She had a choice of causing some rather uncomfortable harm before getting flattened by the heavy width of the giant tree trunk or else abandon ship as a top priority and leap away. All of that was taking into consideration that she even notice that she was in such danger to begin with. She was blind, after all, and focused on delivering a sword blow in the opposite direction from where the splintered off log was coming from.
Even as this sticky situation fell into Ami’s lap, the Saggitarimon drew back on his bow as he came leaping through the other side of the splintering tree, taking aim at the nuisance of a Patamon. With practiced ease fueled by irritation and anger, he sent loose a barrage of three arrows the flying rodent’s way, the projectiles traveling at such fast speeds that the rookie pig-type would find himself cutting it close if he managed to weave through the air and avoid in time.
Meanwhile, Meramon kept moving among the trees, trying to line up a shot. He couldn’t do much in the first place with the restrictions he had to keep in place on his power and now he had to worry about hitting Ami. Digimon were more resilient to his flames then humans, he’d wager, and he feared that even at the low levels of power he could dare to muster his fireballs would scorch her skin clean through if he missed while hurling at that bucking centaur.

Calcifer saw this was flew out of the way, fortunately being quite fast as he just barely dodged the arrows. Meanwhile, Ami abandoned her plan and made her way off of the digimon, pulling out her digivice as she ran to safety.
"Biodigivolution, activate!" She yelled, becoming engulfed in swirling data as she transformed into a black puppy. "Calcifer, I need a lift!" She then said, the white rookie flying down to her and letting her climb onto his back. Once closer to the centaur digimon, the BlackSalamon let a high pitched howling, intended to either deafen the digimon's hearing momentarily, or cause a temporary state of confusion or paralysis.
The two digimon then moved away quickly, ready to dodge any incoming attacks.

The piercing howl cut swiftly into the centaur’s head, sending him staggering to one side as he took his string-pulling hand off the bow to massage his head. He let out a momentary booming moan, but after a moment he shook his head cleared his mind of most of the pain. The attack from the rookie digimon had gotten through, but against a champion like himself it quickly turned into a stinging irritant rather than a crippling pain.
Growling at the human-turned-digimon’s affront, he quickly reached with adeptly dexterous hands in a fleeting moment withdrew more of his arrows, already launching them one after the other at the two pesky digimon in quick series as they tried to retreat to a safe distance after their little assault. It would be even more difficult for the Patamon who was his primary target to escape the salvo, since by carrying the Salamon he had effectively doubled his size and weight.
Fortunately, Calcifer wouldn’t have to deal with a continuous barrage from the Saggitarimon, because even as the centaur was arming up for a third shot a flaming mass crashed against his side. Meramon had finally decided on a different tactic, choosing to get in close and attack head on where he could be a little more aggressive without as much worry of spreading his flames. As the two entwined bodies rolled on the ground, Meramon quickly disentangled himself to avoiding coming to a crashing halt against some tree trunk or bushes that might cause the forest fire he feared.
As Saggitarimon staggered back onto his four legs, the fire-type was already coming in for another colliding tackle. This time prepared, the horseman digimon raised his giant bow and forced a division between the two. Meramon took firm hold of his weapon from the other side and the two started struggling against the other with pure strength and attrition.

"What should we do now?" Ami asked.
"Let's leave it to Meramon for the moment. Rookies can't do much against a champion," Calcifer said, flying back and keeping a fairly safe distance away.

As Meramon and Saggitarimon grappled over possession of the bow the fire-type tried to gain the upper hand by turning up the heat a little and trying to force the big lummox into a retreat. The centaur digimon definitely was starting to feel a little warm under the collar by his uncomfortable fidgeting and slackening on his primary weapon, but just when Meramon thought he had the upper hand, the enemy lowered his helmed head, baring its lightning-shaped horn at the fire-type, and pushed forward with intent to puncture. Having no other choice, Meramon released the Saggitarimon’s weapon and retreated.
The centaur was already aiming his way with the bow and prepared to launch another volley. Meramon just managed to put a tree between him and those arrows before the barrage was sent loose upon him. He knew that taking the fight in close wouldn’t always be reasonable and whenever the distance widened between the two of them he’d immediately be at a disadvantage. He had to take this into the open where he could bring his full strength to bear. The difficult part was getting Saggitarimon into such a place before he was punctured full of arrows.
Growing bored with the fire-type hiding among the trees, the Saggitarimon decided to take on the retreating rookie digimon as target practice. Casually drawing back on an arrow secured in his bow, he took diligent aim. Just before he planned to let fly his dangerous projectile, however, another fireball was thrown and splashed across his back. He turned around in anger to notice his assaulter running away from him in the opposite direction.
“Stand and fight, yeah?!” Saggitarimon shouted as he let loose the arrow originally intended for the Patamon and Salamon, sniping at Meramon’s back, “Damned pest!”
Just in time, Meramon ducked around some cover and avoided the attack, but he had certainly drawn the centaur’s attention, who was now trying to find a clear shot at the fire-type while already reloading his bow. There wasn’t any available time for explaining to his young companions the plan he had to lure the Saggitarimon outside of the forest, taking the path the Monochromon had dashed off in with hope that the edge of the woodland region wasn’t far off if that was where the stampede was being lead.
If the two eventually caught on, maybe they too could drive him onwards with prodding attacks like he was doing with his intensity-reduced fireballs, quickly throwing another one at the Saggitarimon’s side before ducking around more cover just as another arrow whizzed by, but at the moment he had to concentrate on not only leading the centaur in the direction he wanted him to go, but also keeping his attention off of the human-digimon partners and on his flaming back as he made his way hopefully for that open grounds.
