“Can’t blame em,” Sora said, grinning. “It’s kinda hard to tell you’re blind on a first impression.” He secretly thanked Aros for pointing out that detail, although he didn’t say it out loud. No need for her to think he was crazy.

"Yeah. I don't like to make it obvious," Ami said. "The last thing I need or want is to be treated like a cripple. My parents do that enough."

“Sucks,” Sora said, not quite sure what to say about that. Sure, his mom seemed to always be on the verge of a psychotic breakdown, but at least he didn’t have a disability.

"Yeah, pretty much. At least my grandfather understands. He's blind too," Ami said. "But I do everything I can to live my life normally and he helps me a lot."

“Your grandfather was blind too?” Sora asked, ignoring the incessant babbling Aros was doing within his mind. “Is it a genetic thing or something?”

Ami laughed. She remembered when someone else asked that. "No. Its just old age for him. But I was born blind. His eyesight went out several years ago though, so my dad made him move in with us."

Sora felt a blush creep up on his face, slightly embarrassed. He was almost glad the girl before him was blind – it made things so much easier for him. “Yeah, same thing happened with my granddad,” Sora said, rubbing the back of his head.
He bounced on the balls of his feet, hands unconsciously curling into and out of fists. The adrenaline rush from his earlier fight was still going strong, and he was fining it hard to relax.

"You alright? I can hear your heart beating pretty fast. Then again, I can't blame you. That was some fight," Ami said.

“Nah, I’m fine,” Sora said, the beginnings of a smile on his lips. “All I’ll need to do is run home, and I’ll be as good as new.” He cracked his neck, sighing in relief as he felt it loosen up immediately.

"OK then," Ami said. She then pressed a button on her watch, hearing a voice say, "6:30 P.M." She then said, "Well, unless you know of good way to kill some time, I should probably head home before my parents call the cops or something. Again," she said, partially joking.

“Eh, it wouldn’t be that bad,” Sora said, grinning widely. “I’ve dealt with the cops plenty of times before. After all the shit I’ve had to deal with, I’m actually on pretty good terms with them.” He scratched the back of his head, trying to think of something to do. “Wanna spar?"

"Well, you single-handedly kicked those guys asses earlier with ease...You'll definitely be a difficult opponent, but sure. Just whatever you do, don't go easy on me. Maybe I could learn some of those moves of yours," Ami said.

“If you insist,” Sora said, cracking his knuckles and taking a step backwards into a low stance. “Those guys were just a warm-up for me, now I’m ready for some REAL fighting,” the boy smiled, stretching out his arms. “But just so you know, I kinda have to take it easy. If I don’t, I find people I fight have a tendency to end up paralyzed from the chest down. Or worse.”

"Fine. I just can't stand it when people hold back because I'm blind, or because I'm a girl. Anyway, bring it on," Ami said, taking a defensive stance.
