Appearance:
Personality:
Meramon has all of the traits that characterize an excellent fighter, bravery, determination, a thirst to become stronger and ascend his limitations, and a private code of ethical morals to keep his strength fueled by his own beliefs. On the other hand, he also has a speculatively poor qualities, pointed out by his master, that he still tries to comprehend. He’s hot-headed, stubborn, and temperamental. However, this heated nature of his has been known to be useful in strengthening his flame-based abilities and his strength in combat, implying that rather than taming these feelings he should be trying to focus them more properly.
When he was younger, he had the dream of becoming a hero of the digital world, but through maturity, he has seemed to give up on this dream in favor of self-realization by the continual surpassing of limits through training. Still, some of that hero spark remains because, even though he doesn’t go looking for people to save, he has the integrity to force him into action when someone nearby needs help. He also has the courage to stand by his friends and fight for their causes without fear for his own life.
Despite this vein of loyalty, he doesn’t make friends very easily because he’s often quite distant. He used to be one of the most enjoyable characters around before he began his training. While learning how to become more powerful he lost many communication skills, another weakness viewed by his master, and now finds it rather difficult to interact in a socially acceptable manner. Because of this, he often pushes them away with his far-away and temperamental nature. Still, he always means well and never intentionally tries to hurt anyone who has done him no wrong.
Opinions:
Opinion of Battle: Meramon is energetic about battling strong opponents. It’s not just the fight that he enjoys, but the ability to ascend one’s limits that no amount of training could effectively match. This enjoyment is of a colder variety than most, however, as he doesn’t consider it playtime. He takes combat very seriously, having been raised in the art of combat since he successfully found a master to train him, partaking in it with satisfaction rather than excitement.
Opinion of Humans: Meramon doesn’t have much of a leaning towards humans one way or another. He admires their race’s capacity for bravery and courage, despite their lacking in physical strength. However, he comes to see and judge them as he would any digimon, based on their strength of character and not on their appearance. However, he also recognizes the race’s aptitude for negative traits as well, their hunger for power, their jealousy, their hate, emotions that make them no less dangerous than evil digimon of the past. He would protect others from these kinds of people as much as any other immediate threat without hesitation.
Opinion of Self: Meramon tries not to think too much on thoughts about himself, because he doesn’t really know what to think. He has lost his reasons for fighting and training and becoming stronger for it and now just does these things because they’re all he knows how to do, hoping that as he becomes stronger and ascends his own limits the answer will find its way to him. Because of this, his life is a little bit hollow, but in his hot-headedness he won’t dare admit it because then it would be as if he were admitting defeat to it. The only time when he doesn’t feel the slightest bit of weight from these feelings is during training, fighting, and helping others through his strength. Sometimes fleeting thoughts of his childhood dream over becoming a hero pop up and he almost feels like he would be happy if he focused himself on that task of protecting people, but quickly dismisses it as a childish delusion.
Abilities:
Offense: Meramon’s offensive power is overwhelmingly destructive and certainly where he shines among champion-level digimon. With his powerful flame-based attacks capable of being utilized at close to far range, he’s a dangerous opponent regardless of his position or that of his adversary. By a scaling system from one to ten, his offensive rating would be at the very least that of a nine, if not more likely a ten, among his tier.
Defense: When considering Meramon’s defensive statistics, one must consider not only his toughness and resilience against enemy attacks, but also the eternally raging flames that engulf his body, useful as weapon and deterrent. Meramon refuses to stay down in a fight until his muscles simply cannot support his weight any longer, stubborn and hot-headed in his desire to be victorious, making him a difficult digimon to force out of combat. On top of this, he has a serious upper hand in close combat because of his flaming body which, in essence, damages the enemy almost as much, if not as much or more so in some cases, as Meramon if they feel like throwing a punch or a kick or the like. On a one to ten scale, he would likely be pegged similarly with his offense at a ten, or at least a high nine.
Speed: Meramon can move at relatively high speeds and is fairly efficient at dodging attacks with his knowledge and experience in combat. However, this is not the highlight of his fighting capabilities, as he prefers to answer enemy attacks with overwhelming power and toughness over avoidance. He can still give a good chase though, especially on open ground. On a scale of one to ten, he would reach a seven, possibly an eight without obstruction in his path.
Intellect/Wit: Meramon is by all means sharp and the years of training and combat that he has faced in his lifetime has given him wisdom and insight when it comes to battle. However, during conflict he can tend to lose his head a little in his heated passion. On a scale of one to ten he would top out at perhaps a seven, maybe an eight when calm and not participating in any intense combat.
Recuperation: Years of endurance training has helped to greatly improve Meramon’s healing capacity and stamina recovery. He has been known to recover from serious wounds and reach stability in a matter of days, even hours if his wounds are treated quickly after they were obtained. On a scale of one to ten, he would be approximately an eight.
Background:
Ever since the first days after his hatching, Meramon admired the strong and righteous digimon of the Digital World. He knew without a doubt that he wanted to possess these specific traits when he eventually grew up, to digivolve into some powerful new form so that he could use that power virtuously. He wanted to become a hero of the Digital World, to save those too afraid to save themselves and to act as a symbol for them so that one day hopefully they wouldn’t be so fearful and be able to stand up for themselves. It was the dream of a child, but that’s what he was and he wanted to pursue that dream.
To that end, he trained the moment he was capable enough to effectively do so. This was at about the time that he had digivolved into DemiMeramon. He often worked himself dead tired late into the night with repetitious exercise routines and fought in sparring matches with friends whenever he could, all of whom loved mock combat as it allowed them to step into the role of the great digimon fighters that they’ve seen and sometimes only heard of. He became a top contender to be sure, strongest among the digimon of his level living in his small digimon village.
In the end, however, it just didn’t feel like enough. He wasn’t progressing like he had hoped and his dream seemed as far to him then as it had ever appeared. He couldn’t effectively ascend to the next level at the rate that he wanted without professional help leading him past the threshold. It was at around the time of this realization that he started hearing the rumors. Apparently as word had it, a famous digimon trainer called Piximon had moved into the wilderness somewhere near the digimon village that Meramon grew up in. It was said that he had trained some of the best digimon around, from champions to ultimates and even those of the highest level of mega stage. No one knew precisely where he had set up his homestead, but it was too much of an opportunity for Meramon to pass up and so he went in search of this legendary trainer.
It took days of intense scouring of the local woodlands with some nights holding a complete lack of results, but in the end he came across the home of Piximon. The digimon trainer was not what he had expected to find, however. He was grumpy and sharp and snide, he had moved away from his place in the city to this remote region in the hopes of escaping the kinds of people who would come in search of his services. He turned the young Meramon away in an instant without a second thought. He had no intention of returning the life of a trainer, especially for some upstart kid who wanted to become a hero.
This response would discourage most digimon, but not Meramon. He didn’t budge from the area outside of Piximon’s home, intent on staying there until he was given training by this legendary mentor who stirred such rumors about his outstanding services. Day and night he just sat outside on the border of Piximon’s land, where his lawn ended and the tree line began, only leaving for short intervals to hunt for food nearby. In the end it came to a point where the trainer was almost prepared to use force to get this pesky visitor to leave him be, but before it reached such a level he came up with the idea of getting some use out of the boy and breaking him all at the same time. He gave him mentally and physically exhaustive chores around the house that he would have had to do at some point on his own. He worked him tirelessly, expecting that at some point it would prove too tough for his unwanted guest and he would simply leave of his own accord.
However, this never happened, Meramon was as diligent with these chores as he had been with his own exercise routines back in his village home. He never shirked off and always gave one hundred percent of himself to any task assigned to him in the hopes of proving himself. In the end, it paid off as Piximon fell into such disbelief that this young digimon would go through all the effort that he had just to receive training that the mentor finally gave in and accepted him as a student.
The training from then onward was much harder than any of the chores that the young digimon had received to get to this point in the first place. He came home at nights to his small room provided by his master so exhausted that he was often stunned by the fact that his muscles still responded. During this time, he reached his champion-level form, proof that all of this energy sapping work was paying off in spades. His mentor might have seemed a tyrannical, slave-driving master but he certainly knew what he was doing. He had experience in training the young and veteran fighters of the Digital World and now he was imparting all of his knowledge on young Meramon.
Years passed and Meramon began to receive that strength that he had wanted all along, that power that so many of those other digimon had who he had admired from the comfort of his village home. Alongside that strength, however, he began to mature and he lost most of the desire to fulfill his dream of becoming a hero of the Digital World. He still possessed the qualities of bravery and courage that he had so desired from when he was younger, but he dismissed his grandiose ambition as a child’s fantasy that he had grown too old to indulge any longer. He didn’t have anything to replace that goal with, however, and in the end came to train and fight simply for the purpose of becoming stronger and surpassing his previous limits time and time again.
One day during this routine training, Piximon called Meramon to him with a new training method he was to endure. He would be leaving the mentor and going on a journey around the Digital World to find himself. They would resume his training once he found what he had been sent out to search for and with that cryptic message he was driven out into the world. Piximon had grown inwardly fond of the young Meramon, though by his gruff exterior it was clear that he wasn’t letting it get out that this was true. He had learned much about his student during their years of training and had come to recognize his flaws alongside his strengths. He was hot-headed, stubborn, temperamental, and overly impulsive. These traits of a heated personality had to be tamed properly and that could only be done through life experience and one’s own training. He knew he had to let Meramon leave his council for a time if the young digimon were ever to advance to his next stage of potential.
Since that day of departure, Meramon has done as his master commanded of him, journeying to the corners of the Digital World, training on his own so that his strength and ability will continue to flourish. He has yet to find what he was sent in search for and yet has lost none of his determination dedicated toward the task given to him by his master.
