“You two certainly have an interesting partnership.” Meramon said, seeming to nearly take a step back so as not to get caught in the crossfire. Considering the human, he asked with curious eyes, “You’re sure that you’re the tamer to this Impmon, here? Call me skeptical, but the fates that be certainly chose a clash of personalities, though you both seem to have a bond through arguing. Perhaps a relationship can grow from that.” If he took his words seriously, he would shutter to think what that relationship would be like after the two had a few months’ time to have at each other’s throats.

"It has to be a mistake,' Katrin said.
"Finally something you say that I actually agree with," Damion said as they stood with their backs to each other."
Meanwhile, a rumbling sound seemed to be coming from a distance away, though it could easily be dismissed as merely the sound of someone's stomach.

“I don’t know,” Meramon replied, a grin widening on his flaming lips, “You two look perfect for each other in this instant. I told you that you have arguing and your stubbornness to bond you two if nothing else.”
Chuckling and kicking up sparks from deep within his throat in the process as he looked away, the fire digimon was distracted enough by the human-digimon pair that he almost didn’t sense the rumbling under his feet. His burning blue-white sights shifted slightly towards the direction he felt it coming from, so as not to alarm anyone but to still try to find out what the source was. However, he let his tensions go after a moment, knowing that here in the digital world there were strange and dangerous events all the time. The rumbling didn’t feel close; at the moment it was best to just ignore it. Besides, it could just be his imagination, he considered, as he turned his attention back on the two as if he’d never looked away in the first place.

"Yeah, perfect for each other, right. Maybe on Opposite Day," Katrin said.
The rumbling soon grew louder as its distance from them shortened. Something was moving their way, or more like a group of somethings, kicking up dirt and rocks as they charged towards them.
"I don't like the look of this," Katrin said, standing up.
"I do. Bring it on! Bring it!" Damion yelled, obviously wanting a fight.

The rumbling in the earth could no longer be ignored as Meramon sensed it ever approaching nearer. Whatever was the cause was heading their way and it was close enough now that he could see the dusty haze kicked up by its or their feet. Whatever was closing in on them, whether it was something friendly and just passing by or a threat to him and the two human-digimon partners at his side, it was best not to drop his guard until he knew for certain if it were dangerous or not. Past the caution and hesitation, however, was another emotion, the faint sparks of excitement.
“I hate to do this to you, human, but I have to agree with your Impmon this time.” A grin crossed Meramon’s fire-licked lips as he prepared himself for whatever was coming at them, “It’s been a while since my biggest problem was more than how best to melt a slab of stone during training practice. Still, I suggest you find some cover to keep safe.” He gestured towards any number of days-since cooled spires of rock-turned-slag littering the barren valley, “If whatever’s coming might be dangerous, it would be best if you didn’t get hurt.”

Katrin sighed, running over to find a place to hide as a group of three Ankylomon came at them, soon stopping and glaring at them.
"Well look at this. Easy pickings," one said as he looked at the others, then at the two digimon. "You two take care of the Meramon. I'll handle the Impmon. And the human hiding behind the rocks." He then swung his tail at the rocks that were in front of Katrin, on of them falling on her and pinning her to the the ground, as well as crushing her leg.
He was then about to make the finishing blow when he was suddenly hit in the face with a few fireballs. "Hmph. Like that will do anything.
Meanwhile, the other two Ankylomon attacked Meramon by slamming against the ground, trying to cause a rock slide as they also swung their tails at him.

Meramon watched as the approaching digimon continued towards them and finally came close enough to get a good look at them. Three Ankylomon were the cause of all the rumbling and kicked up dust clouds. Champion-level, they were pretty strong in their own right; the fire-type digimon thought with an inwards smirk that they might even prove good sport. He stood his ground as they approached and came to a stop in front of him and the two partners, looking ready to pick a fight as they talked their talk.
The moment that their attention fell on the human, one of the Ankylomon smashing away her cover with his tail, the fire digimon became more serious. His fun was secondary to the young lady’s safety, but when he began to make a move for her, the other two dinosaur-type digimon made their move towards him. Trying to think up something flashy, he found out he didn’t have to as the Impmon made a move by distracting the threat to his human partner with a handful of red fireballs. He wondered if the little virus-type could handle a champion-level digimon like Ankylomon, but he figured at the very least the Impmon was certainly tough enough to distract the big lug while he dealt with the guy’s two friends.
“Why don’t you all attack me at once?” Meramon asked with some scathing ridicule as he let the two Ankylomon approach, standing his ground as the earth rumbled under their feet as they prepped for a charge, “That way I might at least get some excitement out of this whole mess.”
As the two champion-level digimon brought their tails to bear and sent them slamming down on Meramon, the two dinosaurs and the fire-type were concealed by a kicked up shroud of dirt and rock. Everything within was concealed for a few moments before suddenly the flaming digimon leaped out of the dust cloud through the top, pulling his hands back and gathering up the energy to make his own move against them.
“Fine, have it your way!” He called down on the two with a wide smile on his burning lips, “I’ll get what sport I can from you two at least; Roaring Fire!”
Throwing his fists forward, Meramon sent out an eruption of fire down towards the ground a short ways below. As the burning flames splashed against the barren earth, ripping through the thick dust cloud with ease, he dragged his fists through the air, sending the blazing jets of generated infernos on a quick sweeping arc with intent to connect with where the Ankylomon had been when they attacked him.

"Go ahead and try to take us on," one of the large digimon said, both to Damion and the Meramon, the attacks hitting him but doing little damage as he slammed the end of his tail at the Impmon, sending him flying back a good distance.. "You'll find that your little fire tricks won't do much good."
Katrin yelled as she tried shoving the large rock off of her legs, but she couldn't. Soon, a decent amount of blood was beginning to pool beneath her. She then gazed at the sky, wondering what was going to happen. One of the champion level digimon approached her. But he backed off as tow large fireballs hit him right in the eyes, blinding him and making him crash into one of his buddies.
"Watch it you idiot!" It yelled, before turning back to Meramon again with another Tail Hammer attack.

Meramon frowned as his feet hit the ground with a light touchdown. This wouldn’t normally be that much of a challenge if all he had to worry about was trouncing the competition. The Ankylomon were decent powerhouses, but they seemed to lack a lot in strategy and overall brains. So far they had resulted to aggressive head on charges and had only been able to hurt the human and the Impmon because they were relatively weaker than their opponents, especially the human who was his top priority being the least adapt at combat from what he could tell. She was probably hurt pretty badly, too, from when her cover was shattered above her.
As one of the dinosaur-like digimon turned his attention back to pounding him into the ground, the fire-type quickly leaped to the side, once again taking the cover of the kicked up dirt cloud caused by the impact to reposition himself, not only to someplace better suited for an attack but also closer to the girl. Sizing up where he remembered the two closest Ankylomon to be, he held his hands skyward as if reaching for the sun to take it up in an embrace, all the while gathering the energy for his next move.
“So, your kind doesn’t get hot under the collar all that easily, do you?” Meramon asked, mostly to himself, the dirt and rock veiling the air also obscuring where his voice was coming from precisely, “Then how about a little Magma Burst!”
Erupting from his hands and into the sky were a near full dozen stones of flaming volcanic rock. They arced along their paths and soon came raining down as artillery shells to pummel the ground where the closest two Ankylomon had been to his position. When he had used his Roaring Fire attack, he had utilized it in a sweeping motion, meaning that neither had taken the brunt of the strike, or even all that large a fraction of it since they were only hit for a moment each.
Still, being earth-types, he should have expected some minor resilience from them to his fire attacks and performed some focus fire to at least get rid of one during his first strike. He was correcting now with his choice of second attack, because his Magma Burst wouldn’t just be delivering fire damage, but also bludgeoning harm from the rocks coated in the flames. How better to break abunch of rockheads like that trio of digimon troublemakers than by hitting them with more rocks? While he expected the attack to prove effective, it was mostly an effort in distraction. By the time the rocks struck down and sent up a deeper haze from the barren earth, the flaming digimon was next to the human girl.
“Are you alright?” Meramon asked, noting the blood as he hefted the large rock off her leg with relative ease. He would have offered a hand up, too, but that would likely result in the girl losing a hand of her own. Looking over his shoulder to spot her digimon partner, he also gave a shout out to him, “And Impmon, how are you holding up over there?”

"I...I can't stand," Katrin said, fear obvious in her voice. Her left leg hurt horribly, and she could barely even feel the other. She would need medical attention as soon as possible.
"I'm just fine. This isn't so hard- Ahh!" Damion said with a smirk, before being hit by the Tail Hammer attack and sent flying back again. "Damn it. I dare you to try that again you asshole!" He yelled, running back towards the Ankylomon, jumping up to avoid another attack and sending several fireballs into its face.
The other two were damaged a bit by the Meramon's attack, but were still quite far from being brought down. As they seemed to retreat, they headed towards the top of the mountain. A greater rumbling was heard as they created another rock slide, heading for the two digimon and Katrin, who was stuck lying on the ground.
"Oh no," she said, sure that she was going to die, before she suddenly felt someone grab her wrists, dragging her out of the path as quick as he could. She was a bit surprised to see Damion helping her, but was in too much shock from the unfolding events to say much else.

Meramon examined the human’s leg wound, suspecting he could give it a quick fix by cauterizing the blood vessels. The Ankylomon weren’t making things easy with helping her and her digimon, though, as the pair he had just recently struck with his last attack were now trying to cause trouble with an overhead avalanche. If it were just him there, he’d get out of the way, maybe even run through the falling rocks and take on their digimon cause head on, but there was also the girl and the Impmon to worry about.
With that in mind, he sent out jets of flame from his hands once again, splashing waves of fire against downhill rolling stones and forcing them to deter on their path and completely miss the trio. He was careful not to waste too much stamina and firepower in his actions, using just enough to bash the incoming rocks away from them, but he knew he couldn’t keep it up forever. There had to be a way to put out the cause of this landslide without abandoning the human and digimon pair with him.
As he sent out a wave of flame to knock aside some fast approaching boulders about to pelt down on the Impmon dragging his human to safety with an outstretched hand, his blue-white eyes locked onto the two champion digimon higher up on the mountainside surrounding the enclosed valley and burned intensely as he kept them in his sights. Raising his free hand, which couldn’t be kept free for long before he would have to return it to service in order to keep pace with the rocks bearing down on him and the two partners, he sent another jet stream of raging fire to impact just a scant couple of meters short of the Ankylomon.
This time he was using enough power behind the attack to quickly tear up the rocky mountainside at the impact site and with a quick sweep of his hand he made the area that the two earthquake causers were situated at very unstable. Their ensuing stomping actions actually caused the ground at their feet to suddenly give way and they would soon find themselves being sent rolling down the mountain like the rocks they had sent ahead of them to crush their enemies.
“I wonder what they want,” Meramon questioned, more to himself then anyone but loud enough for the human and Impmon to hear incase they had their own opinions, “most digimon don’t just attack people randomly. They either want something or they’re so mad about something that they don’t care who they’re hurting to cool down their fury.”

After the three digimon had rolled down the mountain, they didn't seem to try and come back. Either they were retreating, or they were up to something.
"I don't know. Maybe they just like causing trouble," Katrin said. She tried to sit up, and winced. Her leg was definitely broken. She then ripped off her sleeves and began wrapping them tightly around the wounded leg, keeping pressure on it to help stop the bleeding. She then lied back again, trying to calm down.

Meramon’s blue-white gaze stared with burning intensity off into the direction that the Ankylomon were sent rolling away out of sight, unsure as to whether he should be grateful or suspicious. For the moment, he decided to choose both. They just seemed to get off way too easily; maybe the trio of troublemaking digimon was hiding in wait to jump them or something. It still didn’t make sense why they were trying to hurt him and the human-digimon pair, but the fact that they were was all that mattered at the moment. He didn’t let his guard down, even when he turned his back to the direction the Ankylomon left and faced the partners in his company.
“Good job, Impmon.” the fire-type digimon commended as he approached the human to inspect her wound better. He still didn’t know either of their names, something he had forgotten entirely to ask in all of the excitement, and took it as an assumption that the virus-type digimon was like most in the digital world and went by their species name, without a given name attached. “There were a few times there where your partner was in some serious trouble and it’s good to see you pull through for her.” He chuckled a bit, as if catching the digimon’s hand in the proverbial cookie jar, “Looks like you really are covering up your feelings, or else you wouldn’t have cared what might happen to her.”
As he approached the human girl, he crouched down on a knee to get a better look at her leg, “I could try to cauterize the wound with my flames, if you’d like.” Meramon offered, looking up at her for her response, “There’d be some discomfort at first, but it would stop the bleeding.”

"What? Shut up! I'm not covering anything up!" Damion said. "That's the last time I help a stupid human. I probably was just...hit on the head with a rock or something. Yeah that's it."
Katrin laughed a bit, then said, "OK, go ahead please."
