Chapter 1:
"AHHHHHHHH!!"
*FSSH* *FSSH* *THUMP*
"Ugh.. that was some drop.. what the heck happened to me.." Mumbled a voice.. the voice of a teenager. An odd event had just transpired, and it left a fifth-teen year old boy stranded. Where, you might ask? Looking around, he notices that he's no longer in a park, but a forest. He was no longer where he once was, well, that's not even explaining half of it. A better way to explain it all was to go back.. and see what led to this mysterious event itself.
~~~
The story would truly begin in Shinjuku, almost a year after the events of the D-Reaper. Yes, this was the world.. or should one say, the dimension of the Digimon Tamers. Around this point in time people really knew a certain group of individuals; their names being Takato Matsuki, Henry Wong, and Rika Nonaka. Various other companions of theirs had helped in the great fight too, but their names were not highly mentioned.
That group of three were apparently in the lower grades, like Middle School. But the fifthteen year old boy, also known as Dameon Crawford, was in High School. To be more specific, he was in the 10th Grade. Things have gone very smoothly and boredly in the world, and there hasn't really been any evil digimon sightings for the longest time. There was a probable reason to believe that there were no more enemies or threats to worry about.. but that shouldn't make one think that there was no weird phonemenon.
Dameon along with many other classmates were sitting around in class, half of them pretty much zoning out. That included Dameon, as he sat in the near back and was near the window. His hand was resting upright on his desk, and he was further resting his cheek on his palm. He softly yawned and glanced out the window, out towards the many group of trees which made up the park area.
'Come on already.. ring bell, ring..' He was thinking almost beggingly, glancing away from the window and towards the clock that was perched above the classroom door. The time was 2:57.. 'Damn.. just three more minutes, and I will be home free..'
"I'm sure staring at the clock is a perfect way to pass the time, but I 'am' teaching a lesson, Dameon." Came a sharp voice. Whoever said it sounded irritated.
Dameon's face paled when he realized that he was caught well.. not listening. His eyes slowly adjusted a bit higher, and a bit more to the right.. his teacher was standing almost directly behind him. "Oh, um.. sorry Mr. Iwate." He apologized, giving a weak laugh. Mr. Iwate frowned a bit, shaking his head as if confused by the boy's behavior. "Honestly, at least 'try' to listen. Maybe then you'll get more then a C on the next test." He said, practically teasing him if one thought about it in that angle.
Some of the kids in the class giggled and snickered, amused a bit. Dameon's face reddened a bit, and he so badly wanted to say 'It was a C+, come on', but he kept himself from doing so. Instead he took an almost attentive posture, and responded. "Yes sir.."
2:59. Dameon let out a sigh and took out a pen and his agenda book, writing down the math assignment. He had spaced out through nearly a fourth of the lesson at the end, and didn't do a single bit of work when given time too. He wasn't surprised that the last test he got 'was' a C+. It would be around this time that the bell would ring, and Dameon had cracked a tiny smile while packing his stuff.
"Finally.. freedom." He mumbled. He quickly finished packing and put on his backpack, starting to make his way towards the door like everybody else, when Mr. Iwate suddenly called. "Dameon, a moment if you please."
'Damn!'
Around four or five minutes later Dameon came out of the room, head drooped down a bit. He was lectured on how he should listen, why he should listen, and what would happen if he was caught 'not' listening again. The boy was greeted by a friend of his, who was standing directly across from the door. "Sorry for the wait Kiara, teacher goes on forever," Dameon apologized, chuckling a bit.
His best friend's name was Kiara Namida, a fifteen year old girl who was a lot smarter then given credit for. She was actually nearing her sixteenth birthday.. it was September 10, 2006. Her birthday was December 18. She was older then him, but not by too much.. she smirked a bit. "I bet. Anyways come on.. you promised we could study together for those tests we have tomorrow Plus your mom's making Onigiri today, right?"
"Yeah I know.. hey! You don't need help with studying! Your just coming for the food, aren't you?!" He accused, pointing a finger at her. Kiara simply giggled a bit and turned, walking a ways towards the front doors of the school before looking over at Dameon with a grin. "Maybe.. come on!"
Dameon simply shook his head a bit and laughed. Well he couldn't blame her.. his mom only makes them for special occasions. This day just happened to be close to her and his dad's wedding anniversary. Tomorrow was the actual date, and they would be going out.. he would have the whole house to himself. "Fine." Was all he said before running to catch up with her, walking alongside with Kiara as they headed out of the school and back towards his place.
~~~
"So, did you hear the news last night?" Kiara asked, walking along the sidewalk with Dameon. His house wasn't really too far from the school, it was easily reachable via walking. The city was lively as usual; people going around shopping, chatting, and eating. Dameon glanced at his friend confusingly, wondering what she was talking about at first. He then recalled 'what' was on the news, and he nodded. "Yeah; a kid was apparently killed near Riverside. It happened in his own home, too.."
Kiara nodded, pointing a finger up as if correcting him. "Not only that, but it was supposedly done by a digimon. There were three stab marks in the heart, almost as if it was done by an claw or something." She explained. Dameon shivered a bit.. it wasn't really graphic, but it did make his stomach clench a little in discomfort. "That.. had to hurt."
"No kidding."
The two teens continued to walk, eventually nearing their place. Dameon then stopped however, seemingly in thought. Kiara stopped a bit ahead, looking back at him with a confused look. She noticed his own face, and was startled even more. "What's wrong?" She asked. Dameon slowly looked up at her, his own questioning face being replaced by doubt.
"Are you sure.. that it was a digimon?"
Kiara was surprised a bit by the question. She then remembered.. Dameon really liked digimon; both the cards and real life ones. She shook her head and shrugged, unsure of how to really answer. "I don't know.. its what 'they' assumed. Maybe it was a real animal, or maybe it 'was' a digimon. We can't really know for sure until there's evidence." She told him.
Dameon slowly nodded, feeling better already. He always saw digimon as amazing.. cool.. beings that wouldn't harm others, except if it was spars, or if they were evil. He would quickly assume that this was an evil digimon's doing. "Okay, that's all." He told her. Kiara smiled to herself, thinking how it was kind of cute, him caring so much about digimon. Then again she wasn't surprised.. he 'did' always play the card game, and always wanted a partner of his own after seeing the events of the D-Reaper fights on television.
"Don't worry about it.." She said warmly, before turning and starting to walk again. Dameon nodded and began to walk as well. He couldn't imagine digimon killing or murdering humans.. he hoped that this would be the only story and assumption of a digimon committing that sort of deed for a very long time..
~~~
"It was nice having you over for lunch Kiara. If you'd like, you could stay for dinner too, if your mom would be okay with it."
It was around four hours or so after Dameon and Kiara arrived at his place, and they enjoyed themselves by eating Onigiri, working and finishing homework, studying, and just hanging around and talking. She had called her foster mom beforehand and said she would be at a friend's for most of the afternoon. Her mom knew Dameon very well, and was pretty much okay with it. They were sitting at the dining room table, and Mrs. Crawford was in the kitchen washing dishes, smiling.
Kiara smiled and looked over towards Dameon's mom, bowing her head respectfully. "Its okay Mrs. Crawford, I have to get home soon anyways. Its around.." She turned to glance over at the clock. She blinked and looked surprised. "Whoa, 7:08?? Yeah I definitely got to get going.." She said while getting up, starting to pack her things back into her backpack.
Dameon's mother laughed a bit, taking an Onigiri and walking out to Kiara, handing the rice ball to her. "I understand, maybe you could give this to your mother then." She offered. Kiara nodded and smiled, taking it. "Thank you.. and yeah, she really loves your Onigiri. You make the best!"
A few minutes later after a little bit of talking, Kiara would be heading out the door. It was actually starting to get dark, and Dameon's mother seemed a bit worried about her walking home alone. It was around that point Dameon came up to her, a smile on his face. "I could walk her home mom, if that's okay with you. Oh, and you Kiara."
"Well.. your responsible enough.. even though you are flunking math.." She started. That made Dameon frown a bit. "I'm not flunking, I got a C+ in that class! Just like the test I got today." He corrected. His mom laughed a bit before nodding, moving aside. "We'll talk about this later. You can walk Kiara home.. just make sure to come back as soon as you do."
Dameon nodded and smiled, walking out and glancing at Kiara. "I will mom, see you!" He chirped. The two then started to walk off.
They would be walking and around ten minutes would pass.. they would then be heading through the park. It had a quiet and serene atmosphere.. well it was getting late. Dameon and Kiara walked a while longer before she finally turned to face him. Dameon was a bit surprised, stopping as well. "Kiara?"
"I can walk the rest of the way."
"But.." Dameon started, but decided against arguing. He didn't want to sound weird or anything.. he had a small crush on her for well, a while now. He hadn't even gathered the nerve to ask her on a single date, of the regular or study kind. He slowly nodded, feeling defeated even though he hadn't asked her out in the first place. "Okay."
Kiara smiled softly before nodding, waving and turning. "Talk to you tomorrow Dameon.. night!" She told him before heading off, leaving the boy alone. Dameon stood there for a bit, watching Kiara walk off. He then nodded and turned himself, heading back home too. He only took a few steps though, before he suddenly froze. Something just struck him.. not physically, but a weird feeling. He couldn't move..
But maybe that was because he saw something 'glitch' right in front of his eyes, in mid-air. He blinked and rubbed his eyes a bit, thinking he was just seeing things. In fact it seemed he did, and he laughed a little to himself. "Weird.. guess I'm more tired then I thought.." He mumbled. He knew he should get home soon, before he started to hallucinate or something.
Dameon walked a bit more before seeing it happen again. This time he stopped, stunned and looking around. Was this happening all around or just in front? Well it wasn't happening behind him.. or to the sides.. or above, or below. Just in front of him.. in fact, the glitching was starting to become frequent, and in a much larger area. "What the.." The boy mumbled, stepping back. It looked as if space was tearing apart in front of him, ripping a huge hole. In fact it began to, a suction-like wind of some sort starting to pull Dameon in.
His eyes widened immensely.. he would probably get killed if he was dragged in! He turned and started to try and run away, and for a moment he was succeeding. 'No freaking way I'll be dragged in!' He told himself in his thoughts, though found himself struggling more and more. It was odd.. the suction was getting harder, and forcing himself towards the portal even more. Eventually he would be lifted off his feet..
"A-AH! HELP!!" He cried out in terror, unable to grab anything. There were no benches, not trees in reach.. he was in the middle of the dirt pathway, for crying out loud. There was no one around to hear his cries of help and terror either, and he was immediately sucked into the portal. Fortunately for him he wouldn't be killed. What would happen to him though, would change his entire life forever..
